Device overview:
SVG (Static Var Generator) is a new generation of dynamic reactive power compensation device, and is also the representative of the latest technology applications in the field of reactive power compensation. Internationally known as static var generator. Due to its strong function, small footprint and easy installation, it has become an upgraded product of traditional reactive power compensation. In recent years, with the development of industrialization process, the traditional reactive power compensation device has not adapted to the changes of the existing industrial environment, especially the situation of large load changes, strong impact, and serious harmonics. The application of the unattended SVG for substation completely solves the above problems and has achieved good results in unattended substations.

Working principle:
SVG is equivalent to a voltage source inverter, and the load is the grid. When only the fundamental frequency is considered, the SVG can be equivalently regarded as an AC voltage source of the same frequency as the grid, which is controllable in amplitude and phase, and connected to the grid through a connected reactor.

Technical Parameters:
·Working range: 10KV ± 10%
·Working frequency: 45~50Hz
·Response speed: ≤10ms
·Overall efficiency: ≥99.2%
·Installation method: parallel

Technical features:

1. Dynamic compensation, which can compensate reactive power and harmonics at the same time, and compensate reactive power to achieve continuous smooth two-way adjustment;
2. The response time is short, and the corresponding time of SVG is not more than 10ms. It has an important response speed advantage for fast transient process;
3. The running loss is small, SVG adopts new low-loss IGBT power device, and the device efficiency can reach more than 99%;
4. The small footprint, SVG is based on the inverter composed of semiconductor power devices, and the installation size is generally only 1/3 of SVC, which is especially suitable for occasions with high floor space requirements;
5. High reliability, SVG adopts N-2 or N+2 redundant main circuit topology, one (or two) link units can still continue to operate at full capacity after being damaged;
6. Super compensation ability, SVG output current does not depend on the system voltage, and it is characterized by constant current source. It can still output rated reactive current when the system voltage drops to 20%, and has a wider operating range;
7. Simple operation and maintenance, SVG realizes modular design, small amount of installation and debugging, and basically maintenance-free. It has reliable anti-over-compensation technical measures to avoid the problem of switching shock and reactive reversal. The reactive power dynamic compensation device has reliable anti-harmonic interference technical measures to ensure that no harmonics are generated by itself, and the amplification harmonic problem does not occur when the reactive power is adjusted by tracking load changes;
8. The monitoring system has a friendly man-machine interface for easy control and query of fault types and fault locations;
9. The monitoring and protection system communicates with the higher-level automation system through the communication management unit. The communication management unit mainly completes the function of protocol conversion, so that remote monitoring and control can be realized, and unattended operation can be realized.
